## Detail

In 2018, I designed Colombia's World Cup limited edition capsule collection for Adidas Originals. This project carried deep personal meaning, as it connected to my memories of growing up in Colombia during the 90s when football was both our nation's pride and pain.

The collection draws inspiration from Colombia's iconic 90s kits, but carries a deeper narrative. In 1994, Andrés Escobar, wearing jersey number II, was tragically murdered by a drug cartel member after an auto-goal during a World Cup match. His death shook our nation to its core and disrupted the progress of football as players became terrified to return to the pitch. Escobar's story represents a dark period when football, violence, and drug cartels became tragically intertwined, threatening the sport that united our people.

This design pays tribute to a new era of Colombian football while honoring our past. The jersey is a remix of the home and away kits from the 90s, with subtle elements honoring number II throughout its design. By reimagining these iconic elements, we created a jersey that celebrates our country's resilience and transformation through sport. It's a symbol of how far we've come and the power of football to heal and unite.
